Shopping on line can be easy, simple and save you lots of money. It can also take a lot of your time, frustrate you, and result in unwanted purchases. Now the same can be said for regular high street shopping, but with the vast opportunity presented by the Internet it will pay you to spend a few minutes reading this and understanding how to better optimize your Volkswagen Taro shopping experience:

In January 1989
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles introduced a 1 tonne
pickup called Taro to complement the half tonne Volkswagen Caddy pickup / panel van ranges and the 1 tonne Volkswagen Eurovan van and chassis cab ranges. The Taro however was fully developed by the Toyota Motor Corporation.
The two companies came together to solve each others problems:
- Volkswagen at the time did not have a one-tonne pickup truck.
- Toyota wanted European market share.
So in the late 1980s VW and Toyota signed an agreement that VW would manufacture the Toyota Hi-Lux in the VW factory in Hanover, Germany and it would be sold under the Volkswagen Taro monkier.
The first Taros manufactured in Hanover, Germany from 1989-1994 had a 2.4l Diesel Engine with 61 kW / 83 hp, torque was 165 Nm @ 2400 rpm, with loading space of 3.4m2 and a 1125 kg payload
In September 1994 at the IAA Nutfahrzeuge (Commercial Vehicle Fair) in Hanover, Germany, Volkswagen released the 4x4 version of the Taro which had an extended cabin.
The 4x4 Extended Cab Taro was manufacturered in Toyota's Sahara plant in
Japan but now the Taro had a updated 2.4 litre diesel engine which produced 58 kW @ 4000 rpm and Torque of 163 Nm with 2400 rpm.
The 4x4 Taro had a 2.9m2 loading space and 815 kg payload but could tow 750 kg without brakes and 2100 kg with brakes.
The joint venture ended in 1996 due to being under both marques expectations.
